After purchasing a domain from a third-party provider like Google Domains, GoDaddy, or 1&1 IONOS, you need to link it to your Shopify store. This connection ensures that your domain directs visitors to your Shopify store when they enter the URL in their browser.

Even after linking your domain to Shopify, you must still log in to your third-party domain provider to manage settings, pay for the domain, and renew it.

If you purchased your domain from Google Domains or 1&1 IONOS, you can connect it to Shopify automatically.

To complete this process, you need your login information for your third-party domain provider account.

Steps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Domains.

2. Click Connect existing domain.

3. Enter your domain, such as example.com, and then click Next.

4. Click Connect automatically.

5. If prompted, Log in to your Google Domains or 1&1 IONOS account.

6. Click Connect, and then click Close.

It might take up to 48 hours for your domain to be verified. Once verified, your domain will appear in the THIRD-PARTY DOMAINS section of the Domains page with the status Connected.

If you have trouble with automatic setup, you can just try connecting your domain manually through your third-party domain provider account.
